Why water of life?

The Lord Jesus said, "
I am come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly" John 10.10

There is no message like the glorious Gospel of Christ, summarised in one verse from the Bible:
"
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life", John 3.16.

In these words we see the
greatest love that has ever been shown for the greatest number at the greatest expense.

The holy God, Who hates sin has loved a world of men who are steeped in sin, unable and, for the most part, unwilling to break its power in the life. It was sin that had caused the discontent for the woman of John 4. She came with pots for water from a nearly dry well, but left empty-handed with water which she never knew existed.

No one is excluded from the love of God. He loved the world. The word, whosoever, means every person - man, woman, boy or girl, who has ever lived.

The cost was the gift of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. This was not just coming into the world as a Perfect example - that could never save one sinner. It is only possible because He died on the Cross at Calvary, paying the price for sin, suffering the judgment of God against sin, and purchasing a full and free Salvation for all who will turn from their sin to the Saviour.

Have you had this experience? Have you ever drunk from the "
Wells of Salvation", Isa.12.3. They are freely available to all who are prepared to confess and forsake their sin. This is not an "insurance policy" for heaven, but a way of life which means turning from sin to find a whole new life in Christ, hence the often quoted expression - "Born-again believers". The Lord Jesus made clear that there is no other person who shall see the kingdom of heaven, John 3.3,7.
